Louis de Funès (Courbevoie, 31 juli 1914 - Nantes, 27 januari 1983), geboren als Louis Germain David de Funès de Galarza, was een succesvol Frans acteur en komiek, die mede verantwoordelijk was voor de uitbouw van de Franse cinema.

  Biography  

De Funès was de zoon van Carlos Luis de Funès de Galarza, een Sevillaans edelman. Hij behoorde tot de Spaanse en de Franse adel. Hij huwde in 1936 met Germaine Louise Elodie Carroyer en enkele jaren later met Jeanne Barthélemy, een nicht van de gravin de Maupassant die het Château Clermont in Le Cellier bezat.

In La Folie des Grandeurs speelde hij de corrupte edelman don Salluste de Bazan, die minister is voor de Spaanse koning Karel II. In deze film speelde hij samen met graaf Jaime de Mora y Aragón, een broer van koningin Fabiola van België.

De Funès heeft twee keer een hartinfarct gehad, het tweede (op 68-jarige leeftijd) werd hem fataal.
