I Rammstein sono un gruppo musicale industrial metal tedesco formatosi a Berlino nel 1994, appartenente alla corrente della Neue Deutsche Härte.

Il tastierista Christian "Doktor Flake" Lorenz ha descritto in un'intervista il genere musicale dei Rammstein come "tanz metall", proprio a sottolineare il connubio tra sonorità metal ed elettroniche .

Il nome "Ramstein" - a cui è stato aggiunta una m per suggerire un'analogia col verbo rammen ("urtare con violenza"), mentre Stein significa "pietra" - si riferisce a una base aerea situata in Germania che fu luogo di un incidente aereo nel 1988, che ha coinvolto le Frecce Tricolori italiane e in cui oltre 70 persone persero la vita e circa 1000 furono ferite .

La formazione dei Rammstein non ha mai conosciuto variazioni, si noti comunque che il chitarrista Paul Landers e il tastierista
Christian "Doctor Flake" Lorenz si sono aggregati alla band in un secondo momento.
