  Summary  

El exitoso director de orquesta Pierre Morhange regresa a casa cuando su madre muere. Allí recuerda su infancia a través de la páginas de un diario escrito por su antiguo profesor de música, Clément Mathieu (Gérard Jugnot). A finales de los años 40, el pequeño Pierre (Jean-Baptiste Maunier) es hijo único de mal comportamiento de la mujer soltera Violette . Morhange asiste a un internado lúgubre, Fondo del Estanque, allí pasa largos años hasta que, un día viene un nuevo vigilante llamado Clément Mathieu, que enseña a los niños música y canto coral.
