Tristin Norwell

Tristin Norwell is a British composer, best known for his music scores and record production. He has been based in London since 1992. He rose to notice in the mid 1990s as a record producer and music arranger collaborating with many artists in the late 90's. His efforts with Talvin Singh were rewarded with the 1999 Mercury Prize for the album "O.K.", fending off competition from Chemical Brothers, Blur and Beth Orton amongst others. His work in the 2010 score for the short film Wish 143 helped earned that film an Academy Award nomination at the 83rd Academy Awards.


 life and career
Norwell originally trained as a classical violinist and saxophonist as a child and his father was a jazz drummer in the controversial Australian jazz rock band Sun 1972. His career in music began with production mentoring from Charles Fisher , David A. Stewart of the Eurythmics and then Jonny Dollar . In these times he worked with artists as diverse as Michelle Shocked, Gyan, Died Pretty, Barry Manilow, Terry Hall, Neneh Cherry, Youssou N'Dour, Bootsie Collins, Bernie Worrell, Gabrielle and Frente.

He ventured into record production, mixing and arranging many records with bands including David Holmes, Goya Dress, Pebble Beach, Jocasta , Gabrielle, Talvin Singh, Embrace, Terry DeCastro, The Crimea, Cast and Warrior Charge. He worked on remixes for Ben & Jason, Madonna, Frente!, Talvin Singh, Stina Nordenstam, Jai Uttal, Esthero, Page & Plant, Curve, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Bill Laswell, Alisha's Attic, and William Burroughs.
